Lull | Moments: For those who enjoy minimal, isolationist and alienating drone/dark ambient electronic music, ‘Moments’ is a staggeringly beautiful album of glacial sub-bass sounds and deep, thunderous tones with subtle shifts. Originally released as a 99-track continuous CD in 1998 by Relapse, it is now presented on vinyl for the very first time by Cold Spring in a stunning 2xLP format pressed on 180gm brown (500 copies) and black (250 copies) vinyl and housed in a textured gatefold sleeve. It has also been expanded to 100 cuts with bonus material from the original recording sessions. Lull begun in 1990 after Mick Harris (Scorn, Fret) leaft the grindcore act Napalm Death. Acquiring a sampler, a 4-track recorder and a reverb pedal, he set about creating dark ambient music and released five albums and several EPs prior to ‘Moments’. Coyle Girelli | Fun: Coyle Girelli is an English singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist who has previously fronted the alternative rock bands Your Vegas and The Chevin. Based in New York City for the last decade, he released a debut solo album of timeless and cinematic guitar-based songs and balladry entitled ‘Love Kills’ in 2018 that justified frequent vocal comparisons to legends such as Roy Orbison, Johnny Cash and Elvis Presley, while demonstrating just why esteemed TV chat show host David Letterman had declared “if I had a voice like that I’d run for President” after hearing him sing. Girelli released a new single entitled ‘Fun’ (1st October) that is the first tease from an album scheduled for spring 2022. An uptempo, driving song, it offers a glimpse into the evolution of his sound and was written during the early stages of the global pandemic. Girelli states that “throwing myself back into writing helped me through what was an anxious moment for everyone and helped make sense of a world that felt out of control. ‘Fun’ and many other new songs actually came to me pretty quickly. I coped with the great uncertainty of that period with something I can rely on and turn to at any time - writing music that embraces life: the joy, the pain, the quiet and the chaos.” Listen to Fun.
