Box containing a 32-page booklet, demos and previously unreleased material will be released on 26th November.
This year marks 30 years since Roxette released her third album ‘Joyride’, which followed up the band's record global breakthrough with the album ‘Look Sharp!’ 1989. The band had, in record time, turned into a global hit phenomenon thanks to the three US hits ‘The Look’, ‘Listen To Your Heart’ and ‘It Must Have Been Love’.
Joyride is the album that cement the duo success. The title track zoomed all the way up to the top of the US charts on 1st May 1991, giving Roxette their fourth US No.1, a record that no Scandinavian group or artist has managed to surpass. The boxset comes in two versions: 4 black vinyl or 3 CD, both complete with 50 songs, an illustrated 32-page booklet, telling the story of the album and detailing the creation of the album’s 12 unheard tracks, including planned opener Hotblooded.
According to Per Gessle “In the autumn of 1989 I was going through all kinds of possible material for the new Roxette album. Run Run Run and Another Place, Another Time from the ‘Heartland Café’ album felt like quite strong contenders, so we did new and more ‘Roxified’ demo versions of them. “Run Run Run was a favourite of mine – I thought it had potential to go a long way,” he says, however the tracks never made it to a studio recording.
“Even though we were travelling the world constantly doing promotion for Look Sharp! as well as It Must Have Been Love, I managed to find time to write lots of new songs. Most of them were customized for Marie to sing, and in the end we preferred those,” he adds.
‘Joyride (30th Anniversary)’, will be released November 26th and is available to pre-order. 1LP editions, including standard black and colored variants, are also available.
