New Releases: Mechanical Soul | Front Line Assembly

Atualizado: 27 de jan. de 2021

New album includes guest appearances from Front 242's Jean-Luc De Meyer and Fear Factory's Dino Cazares.

Bill Leeb with long-time collaborator Rhys Fulber, announced the, back in October, 'Mechanical Soul', the new album of the legendary Vancouver-based Front Line Assembly. Little was disclosed about the album, which would be released on January 15th, 2021, except that it includes guest appearances from Jean-Luc De Meyer, of Front 242, and Dino Cazares, of Fear Factory, and a list of 'featured instruments" per track (see below).

Back in December, Metropolis Records made available a preview of one of the album's track, 'Unknown'. The new track, which featured a Roland Alpha Juno 2, showed the band in its prime, with an explosive chorus, fantastic vocals treatments and hard pulsating kick drums, the song will surely gather new fans while not disappoint its older audience.

Now, we had the chance to listen to the full album and we are glad to say the expectations were fulfilled. From 'Purge' fantastic bassline intro to 'Hatevol' climatic outro, through 'Glass and Leather' dense and climatic intro, 'Unknown' pulsating raw energy, 'New World' calm soothing instrumental [1] and 'Barbarians' epic Jean-Luc De Meyer's vocals, we get a rich album that flees away from simplistic recipes to gives us a multilayered sensorial experience.

The Band:

Influenced by early electronic and industrial acts such as Cabaret Voltaire, Portion Control, D.A.F., Test Dept, SPK, and Severed Heads, Front Line Assembly found its own sound and have been fearlessly pushing the boundaries of electro-industrial music for more than three decades, exploring all manner of styles since forming as a purely electronic outfit in the mid-80s.

The new album will be available via digital download, CD and double vinyl on 15/01/2021 via Metropolis Records and can be pre-ordered on the band’s Bandcamp site.
